GulfERP Statistics Methodology
Measurement Window
GulfERP measures podcast downloads using:
- A fixed 24-hour measurement window (per unique listener).
- Hourly breakdowns at the episode level.
- Monthly aggregations across all levels (episode, show, account).
Measuring Uniques
GulfERP follows the IAB Tech Lab Podcast Measurement Guidelines to identify unique downloads.
We combine:
- IP address (anonymized, see below)
- User Agent (browser, app, or device identifier)
Tip: Using both IP and User Agent reduces the chance of over-counting when listeners use multiple apps or devices.
IP Hashing
For privacy and compliance:
- GulfERP hashes (scrambles) the last octet of all IPv4 addresses before storing them.
- Hashed IPs are retained for up to 3 months, then deleted.
Note: IPv6 is not currently supported in GulfERP Statistics.
Exclusion List
To filter out non-human traffic (such as bots and data centers), GulfERP maintains an exclusion list:
- We ingest Udger’s Data Center List via their Local Parser subscription.
- If data centers are missing, we cross-check with HackerTarget’s ASN/IP lookup tool.
- Exclusion lists are refreshed on the 2nd day of every month.
- Audits are performed quarterly to catch new data centers and anomalies.
Reminder: This process ensures your download stats reflect real listeners, not automated traffic.
